Well it worked.. But the sample sucked.

Well here is is finally. I took the idea from someone on Youtube. I thought I would try it out and it did catch one tiny picker that i missed when I first panned the first two pounds.

It seemed to work well until the pump quit. Oh well only paid 10 dollars for it. I have a couple other designs I will be testing and hope to use outside locally when the snow finally melts...

This batch was a bust but I'm going to pan it over again just to be sure. Just the one tiny and no fines. :-(

Not looking good for this sample!

5 pounds if pay dirt from AZ, first two pounds ha poor results. one small picker and a couple of tiny flecks.

I ran the concentrates threw my small home made sluice and then panned it after to be sure.

The sluice is made of a 3 foot long 1 3/4 wide corigated plastic tuning the kind that comes with a sum pump. I used a fountain pump 20-80 gpm, I'll show pictures later this week. made after watching a couple if YouTube videos.
I have miners matting coming and a redesign attempt at a small sluice. pictures to come.

Update

Thank for the input. So to clarify a couple of questions 1st I'm not going to use bags salted with gold only "unsearched" pay dirt.
2nd I agree that eBay is not the greatest place to purchase pay dirt and as time and budget allow I'll be testing concentrates from a variety of vendors.

I'm currently building a sluice / finishing table. I'll be running everything using  that just to keep things similar. I'll post pictures when I have it completely assembled.

I have another batch of pay dirt due in shortly. Ill post the results and pictures on my blog.

Also as a reminder I'm new to this and my purpose with the blog and subsequent posting on treasure net are to generate discussions and help to educate myself and others.

Above all just have fun.
Thanks and keep the input coming.

First test

This was purchased for 16.99 with free shipping from 2knagle off ebay. They have a 100% feedback rating.
I thought the price was ok and as this was the first time I have ever tried gold panning. I thought I had good results what do you think?

I was happy and left good feedback.
I’m new to gold mining / prospecting. I recently joined the GPAA, and I have to say I’m hooked on the hunt for gold.  After reading a number of articles and magazines I began seeing more and more adds for Pay Dirt, on sites like ebay, and even amazon, many had their own website, ranging in price from 6.00 / lb to 95.00 for a two pound bag of concentrate.

So I wondered which one was best? I’m also a new member on Treasure Net and can be found in the panning or sluicing forums.

So here is how I plan to test each. First I'll admit to be very new to panning.

I will pan each two times just to make sure I get the most out of each sample.

I'm going to save all the concentrates and run them in a small bucket sluice when I'm able.
Of course I' ll post pictures.

I recently purchased a two and a half pound bag off ebay for 16.00

Results coming soon.
